Following an investigation by members of the Westchester County Northern Narcotics Initiative, a multi-agency task force comprised of officers from Yorktown, Westchester County Narcotics Unit, Peekskill and Croton police departments busted Granite Springs resident Carmine Caruso, 38, for multiple felony drug charges.
According to police, Caruso sold prescription drugs to undercover officers on two separate occasions last month. On Feb. 1, members of the task force attempted to take Caruso in custody, at which point he fled the scene in a vehicle in an attempt to evade arrest.
Police said that after a brief chase through Yorktown and parts of Somers, Caruso’s vehicle was ultimately stopped on Moseman Road, where he was apprehended and arrested on charges that include criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance, both felonies. He was also charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors.
Caruso was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court on Feb. 2 and released on $5,000 bail. He is due back in court on Thursday to answer the charges.
